New hires
The Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman law firm has hired Hayley M. Masching, who graduated with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2023.
Appointments
Jason Zbornik has been named executive director of the CSPS Hall arts and entertainment venue in Cedar Rapids. Zbornik has 25-plus years of experience in nonprofit leadership and community engagement.
Kudos
Adam Olson of Remedy Intelligent Staffing in Iowa City, a temporary staffing business, has won the Associate of the Year award. He also is nominated for the national Employee of the Year award presented by the American Staffing Association.
Recent University of Iowa graduate Lily Hintz of Waverly, CEO of Health Harmony, placed seventh at the seventh annual University Pitch Madness competition July 16 in Chicago. She received $1,000 in seed funding from the Coleman Entrepreneurship Center. Hintz was one of four representatives from the University of Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center at the event hosted by DePaul University.

Pediatrics clinic moving, block party planned: The pediatrics team at the Eastern Iowa Health Center in Cedar Rapids will be moving Aug. 5 to the new Pediatrics Clinic at 1225 Third Ave. SE, right next door to its previous location.
The health center also will host its second annual community block party Aug. 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at 1210 Fourth Ave. SE. The event will include tours of the new pediatrics clinic, family activities and a free meal for 300 people.
Small business of the week: U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, last week named Agri-Industrial Plastics Company of Jefferson County as her small business of the week.
Dick Smith founded the company in Fairfield in south-central Iowa in 1978 to produce products using the plastic-blow molding process. He then invested in technology to produce EPA-compliant fuel tanks. In 2015, Smith stepped aside as president, with his daughter, Lori, succeeding him.
Ernst, the ranking member on the Senate’s Small Business Committee, is naming one exceptional small business of the week in each of Iowa’s counties during this congressional session.
