Historically, when a Japanese person committed a major faux-pas they would commit hari-kari in shame. When a British subject did the same they would resign in disgrace. In America they put it on their resume as a matter of pride. The director of the US Secret Service in a weekend interview said she was responsible for the USSS and “No” she would not resign.
I’m guessing being director of the USSS will be on her resume.
