IOWA CITY — Iowa football’s eight returning assistant coaches have received pay raises ranging from 7 to 36 percent ahead of the 2024 season, according to updated salary data obtained by The Gazette via a public records request.
The two biggest raises were for defensive coordinator Phil Parker and assistant head coach/linebackers coach Seth Wallace. Their raises — Parker’s from $1.4 million to $1.9 million (35.7 percent) and Wallace’s from $755,000 to $1 million (32.5 percent) — were first reported in January.
Aside from Parker and Wallace, tight ends coach Abdul Hodge received the biggest raise — a 23.1 percent increase from $325,000 to $400,000 — ahead of his third season on Kirk Ferentz’s staff.
Special teams coordinator LeVar Woods’ base salary increased by 10.7 percent from $700,000 to $775,000. The other four returning assistant coaches — running backs coach Ladell Betts, offensive line coach George Barnett, defensive line coach Kelvin Bell and assistant defensive line coach Jay Niemann — received raises ranging between 7 and 10 percent.
