IOWA CITY — Iowa men’s basketball has promoted longtime staffer Al Seibert to general manager in addition to his current duties as chief of staff, the program announced on Wednesday.
Seibert’s responsibilities in the newly-created GM role will include directing a “recruiting process for NIL” and “maintaining the NIL-related records and contracts for student-athletes,” according to the news release.
The 2024-25 season will be Seibert’s 14th year on Fran McCaffery’s staff at Iowa and his third year in the chief of staff role. He previously was McCaffery’s video coordinator from 2012-16 and director of operations from 2017-22.
The Pittsburgh native also has been on the staffs at Duquesne, Pittsburgh, Western Kentucky, the University of Hartford and the University of New Haven in his three-plus-decade coaching career.
