MARION — A Marion man was arrested last week on charges that he sexually abused a child continually between September 2020 and May 2023.
Maurice Anthony Serito Jones, 37, is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, and one count each of continuous sexual abuse of a child, lascivious acts with a child and indecent contact with a child.
According to a criminal complaint, the child, now 14, reported that she was sexually abused by Jones repeatedly in two different locations where he home-schooled her when she was between the ages of 11 and 13.
Jones was arrested Friday and had his first appearance in court over the weekend. He is being held in the Linn County Jail on a cash-only, $100,000 bond. A no-contact order has been filed on behalf of the child.
