Iowa delegation has not called out Trump’s comments about disabled Americans

I was born visually impaired and have found most people to be inclusive. However, those who aren’t have been emboldened by Donald Trump’s disrespectful treatment of those with disabilities. By the time The Americans with Disabilities Act was enacted, I had established my professional career in the behavioral health business, all the while, coping with those who are occasionally obstructive. Trump showed us who he is when he mocked the disabilities of a reporter with whom he was irritated. He followed up over the years by making fun of Joe Biden’s stutter and John McCain’s inability to lift his arm above his shoulder. This is juvenile, demeaning, and below the office of the president of the United States.
There has been little to no pushback from the Iowa delegation in Washington, which I find extremely frustrating and disappointing. If you have a disability or someone in your life with one, I strongly encourage you to give this some thought when voting in November. I do not view myself as lesser than and I expect those who represent me to view me the same.
