Gary Dean Boots, 73, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and educator, passed away on June 24, 2024. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife Shirley, mother Velma, children Jason and Josh, his cherished granddaughter Gabby, two sisters Cindy Andersen and Brenda Tucker, and his brother Brian. He was preceded in death by father Howard.
Gary graduated from Anamosa HS with the class of '68. He a former high school math teacher and left a lasting impact on thousands of students, in Plano, Texas and overseas with the Department of Defense schools. In addition to his professional achievements, he was a devoted family man who always prioritized his loved ones. His warmth and genuine interest in others made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 10 at his brother Brian’s. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mathematics Education Trust, which provides support for classroom teachers, nctm.org/met. Memorials may be sent to Josh Boots, jboots326@gmail.com.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
