New Chinese, pasta restaurants fill out remaining Westdale openings in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS — Two new restaurants are filling out some of the last remaining spots in developments near Westdale Mall.

Signs for two restaurants — both new to Iowa — have popped recently: Golden Apple Buffet and Cheesy Noodle Macs & Snacks

The first, Golden Apple Buffet, will be located near Dirty Dough at 2811 Wiley Blvd SW. The chain, which offers 150 menu items including Chinese food, sushi and sashimi, opened a location last month in Papillion, Neb., according to the Omaha World-Herald.

An interview with owner Dong Sheng by PapillionBusinesses.com indicates it’s one of several that have opened or that Sheng has plans to open in Georgia, New York, Massachusetts and Missouri.

The second, Cheesy Noodle Macs & Snacks, posted signage at 3998 Westdale Pkwy. SW, Suite 100. With a bare social media presence, the new restaurant appears to be local and doesn’t have much information available yet.

The space was previously home to Great Harvest Bakery Cafe, which moved its location to 5070 Lindale Dr. NE, next to Mezcal Tequila Cocina.

Opening dates have not been announced for either restaurant.
