Carol Ann Russo, 85, of Las Vegas, Nevada, also a former native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at her daughter’s home in Henderson, Nevada. A service will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery on August 1, 2024 at 1 pm. The family will host a celebration of life at the Foundry in Coraville, Iowa at 3 pm.
Carol was born on September 29, 1938, Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was the daughter of Cecilia and Ray Nemmers. Carol was a college graduate of Mt. Mercy College Department of Nursing and was employed at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Sunrise
Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. She worked as a nurse for 40 years. She married her husband Vincent Fred Russo on August 1,1959. He spoiled her his entire life. She was the mother of four children. She was a very dedicated nurse who was always neat and orderly. Her favorite things were listening to music, reading, golfing, gambling, her family, her many vacations to Hawaii, mushroom hunting, her bridge club, and her loyal dog T.J.
She survived by her daughter’s Lisa Russo, Tracy Russo (David Finni), her sister Nancy Hammer, her grandchildren Jamie, Taylor, Anthony, Cassidy, and DJ. She had 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Cecilia and Ray Nemmers, her husband Vince, her daughter Maria, son Tom, sister Marylin Balabon, brothers Don and Dick Nemmers.
