Gregory Allen Jones rode to the great motorcycle rally in the sky June 26, 2024, after suffering a stroke.
The son of Harry and Erla Jones of Williamsburg, Iowa, Greg got his first motorcycle (a Harley 350 Sprint) the moment he turned 16, after which the road was his to ride. At 25, he traveled the 1,387 miles of the Alaskan Highway on his BMW where he made lifelong friends.
Greg was a member of the Iowa City Pure Stodge motorcycle club which gave him endless joy attending rallies, hanging out at The Mill tavern and discussing all things motorcycle with his like-minded buddies.
To support his growing BMW collection, Greg was a professional house painter, following in his father and grandfather’s footsteps before him. Greg was well read, a lover of music and an avid fan of PBS and Public Radio, to which his cherished work truck is being donated.
Greg is survived by his siblings, Jeri Jones (Tom Lemons) of Bettendorf, IA; Kenny Jones (Marsha) of Williamsburg, IA; Evan Jones (Deborah Hufford) of Mequon , WI; his nieces Sophia Jones of Barcelona, Spain; and Jennifer Jones of Roseville, CA; and his nephew Christopher Jones of Whitefish, MT.
A celebration of life will be held this fall when family members and friends can attend. Special thanks to the University of Iowa healthcare team for their excellent and compassionate care. Ride on, Greg!
