Keith Ival Poldberg, 95, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the Keystone Care Center.
Visitation will be held at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, on Friday, June 28, 2024. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vinton with Pastor Anne Williams officiating. Reception will follow the service at the church. Burial will be held at a later date.
Keith was born on August 5, 1928 in Jacksonville, Iowa to Nels and Anna (Christensen) Poldberg.
He was united in marriage to Bonnilynn Larsen on January 22, 1949 in Hutchinson, Kansas. Keith was a lifelong farmer in southwestern Iowa, Vinton, Iowa, and Van Horne, Iowa. He was commonly known as “city farmer” to his farming friends, and “dead eye” to his hunting buddies. Keith was a member of the Cattleman’s Association Board, Mutual Insurance Board for 37 years, a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and he also sold Jacques Seed Corn.
He is survived by his children, Ricky (Veronica) Poldberg of Keystone, Patrice Smith of Keystone, and Terry (Sandra) Poldberg of Coralville; grandchildren, Ryan Poldberg of Marion, Jarod (Carrie) Smith of Blairstown, and Laura (Andy) Enlow of Kalona; great-grandchildren, Anessa, Rylan, Taylem, Roman, Stella, and Jaxon; brother Cordell (Donna) Poldberg of Emmetsburg and his brother-in-law Tom (Brenda) Larsen of Des Moines.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Anna Poldberg, wife Bonnilynn, infant son Larry, grandchildren, Kristine, Brocken, and Vanessa, brother, Burdette Poldberg, brother-in-law Dr. Keith Ewing, and sisters-in-law Mona and Sheila.
Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Keystone Care Center, and Gentiva Hospice of Hiawatha.
