Lee J. Landan, 81, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in Iowa City, surrounded by his family.
Lee was born March 8, 1943, in Chicago, the son of Charles and Lois (Spellens) Landan, and grew up in Chicago. He received his BA in marketing from DePaul University, followed a career in advertising in Chicago. He also pursued lifelong passions for golf, gardening, gourmet cuisine, photography, and travel, and in sharing these passions enriched the lives of his family and friends.
In 1984, Lee married Margaret Mary Singer, with
whom he moved to Iowa in 2013.
Lee is survived by a loving family, including his wife Margaret Mary “Peggy"; his children, Brian, Emily (Kyle Holderness), and Julia (Bobby Fischer); grandchildren Gavin and Rowan Holderness; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, and nieces.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Lee's life on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
