Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 1-4 PM at Chapman’s in Clarence with a prayer service at 4 PM. There will be a celebration of life to follow at the 3/30 Club in Lowden.
Galen was born October 31, 1957 in Davenport, Iowa to Allen and Margaret (DeWulf) Conrad. He married Denise Vinger on September 27, 1997 and they shared 27 years of marriage.
Galen is survived by his wife Denise; son Jason (Heather) Conrad of Lowden; daughter Renae (Nathan) Irlmeier of Cumming, Iowa; stepdaughter Kim (Travis) Turner of Davenport; grandsons Beckett Conrad and Nash Irlmeier; and brothers Gene (Mollie) Conrad and Howard (Elaine) Conrad.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Galen graduated from Lowden High School and spent many years being self-employed, owning Conrad Auto and Conrad Trucking. His self-employment years were followed by 21 years at AgVantage Farm Service in Mechanicsville. He retired in 2021. Galen also served on the Lowden City Council for 20 years.
Although Lowden was always “home,” he enjoyed his time on the river, both the Mississippi in Iowa and St. Johns in Florida. He liked cheering on the Hawkeyes, river watching, happy hour with Steve and Judy Vinger, Hooters, and camping. Galen never met a stranger.
