Dona Jean Dales, of Casa Grande, AZ, formerly of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Dona was born May 23, 1931, to George and Charlotte (Baird) Wilson. She graduated from Vinton High School. On July 20, 1953, Dona married James Donald Dales in Jefferson, MO, who passed away on December 8, 2016. In her younger years she enjoyed playing golf at Fawn Creek Golf Course in Anamosa. Dona loved to dance, and she enjoyed her one Miller Lite at 4:00 pm daily on her porch. She also loved to walk daily around Noelridge Park and when anyone asked how she kept her longevity she replied with, “Just Keep Moving”. She enjoyed the outdoors, mowing, tending to flowers and talking with her neighbors. Even in winter she could be seen outside shoveling in her shorts and house coat.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam (Larry) Wilson of Casa Grande, AZ; four, grandchildren, Stefanie (Charlie) Potter of Marion, IA, Stacie Wilson of Casa Grande, AZ and Ryan Dales and Jenna Dales both of Cedar Rapids, IA and two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Hayley Potter of Marion, IA and daughter-in-law, Kim Dales. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Donald Dales, son, Rocky Dales and six sisters.
Visitation for Dona will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 10 – 11:00 am at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids, IA with a service following at 11:00 am with Jim Coyle officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to The American Heart Foundation.
