IOWA CITY — Less than 48 hours after Iowa football’s flurry of official visits from 2025 recruits, the Hawkeyes are beginning to see the results.
Four recruits have committed since the end of their official visits on Sunday — defensive back Charles Bell, offensive linemen Lucas Allgeyer and Cameron Herron and most recently defensive lineman Brad Fitzgibbon.
Herron was the first of the quartet to announce his commitment, choosing the Hawkeyes over Northwestern, Cincinnati, Louisville, West Virginia and Boston College. The 6-foot-4 offensive lineman from Indianapolis has a three-star rating from 247Sports, On3 and Rivals.
Allgeyer, a 6-6 lineman from St. Louis, then followed suit. He had offers from Kansas State, Northwestern, Ole Miss and Miami (Fla.), among other Power Four programs.
Bell is a three-star defensive back from Boston. His other finalists included Wisconsin, Rutgers, Penn State, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Minnesota.
Fitzgibbon, a three-star defensive lineman from Chicago, chose Iowa over Kansas and Michigan State.
The Hawkeyes now have 12 scholarship commitments for the 2025 class. 247Sports ranks the class 47th nationally and 14th in the 18-team Big Ten. On3 ranks the class 36th nationally and 11th in the Big Ten.
Here is a positional breakdown of Iowa’s 12 committed players so far (excluding preferred walk-ons):
- TE: 3 (Thomas Meyer, Eli Johnson and Mason Woods)
- OL: 3 (Joey VanWetzinga, Cameron Herron and Lucas Allgeyer)
- LB: 2 (Burke Gautcher and Carson Cooney)
- DB: 2 (Drew MacPherson and Charles Bell)
- QB: 1 (Jimmy Sullivan)
- DL: 1 (Brad Fitzgibbon)
- RB and WR: No commitments yet
Iowa has another six uncommitted targets who took official visits to Iowa City this month:
- DE Iose Epenesa
- WR Terrence Smith
- OL Brock Heath
- DB Joshua Guerrier
- DL Christian Hudson
- K Scott Starzyk
Epenesa, a five-star prospect and Iowa legacy recruit, is the most notable name on the list. Along with his trip to Iowa — his older brothers’ and father’s alma mater — Epenesa has taken official visits to Miami (Fla.), Penn State, Missouri and Utah.
Smith has a four-star rating from On3 and a three-star rating from other recruiting services. The 6-4 wideout from the western suburbs of Chicago also holds offers from Purdue, Minnesota and Iowa State.
Iowa’s competition for Heath, a three-star offensive lineman from the Kansas City area, includes in-state schools Kansas and Kansas State. He also took an official visit to Northwestern.
Guerrier plans to announce his commitment on July 1, he said earlier this month on social media. The Ocoee, Fla., prospect’s other official visits were to South Florida, Pittsburgh, Boston College and Iowa State.
Hudson plans to announce his commitment on July 6. Other schools in the three-star defensive lineman’s top 10 included West Virginia, Maryland, UCF, Jackson State and Iowa State.
Starzyk picked up an offer from the Hawkeyes during his official visit — something not to be taken for granted as a kicker. Many of the main recruiting sites have not given him a rating yet, but Kohl’s Kicking Camps rated him as the No. 1 kicker in the 2025 class.
