Robert J Meroshek, 77, of Marion, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Per his wishes there will be a celebration of life for family and friends on Sunday, June 30th from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at Uptown Snug: 760 11th Street, Marion, IA. Graveside services will be held in private for the family at Oakshade Cemetery in Marion, Iowa.
Bob was born November 30, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Charles and Susan (Welter) Meroshek. He was united in marriage to Karen Thompson on August 2, 1969, in Marion, Iowa. Bob was employed at Exide Technology for 30 years. After retirement he worked part-time at Jensen Transport.
Bob loved his family and friends, entertaining people on his boat and traveling on the open road. He had an amazing sense of humor and the gift of telling stories of his travels across the USA in his semi-truck. He was the family trivia champion and had the ability to fix all things from cars and trucks to computers.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 55 years, Karen (Thompson) Meroshek of Marion, Iowa; his daughter 's and son in law's, Molly Meroshek & Philip Coetzee of Johannesburg, South Africa; Amanda and Josh Schumacher of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; granddaughter, Madelaine Forbes of Liverpool, England; grandson in law, Calvin Strapp of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five sisters, Judy Zier, Kathy Simonsen, Dianne (Jim) Stimson) Jane (Virgil) Krug, Sharon (Dick) Mefford; brother in law, Gary (Maureen) Thompson, and former son in law, James Forbes.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Susan Meroshek; beloved granddaughter, Ella Forbes and best friend, Arnie Eckberg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to UnityPoint Hospice Care or an organization of your preference.
