Charles “Chuck” Horace Dean, 70, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A time of sharing will follow the visitation and begin at 4:00 PM.
Chuck was born August 21, 1953, to Charles and Helen (Barnes) Dean in High Point, North Carolina. After high school he attended Albright College in Pennsylvania, and that is where he met his sweetheart, Maria. Charles married Maria on June 5, 1973, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He worked as an electrical lineman and later a control engineer for Lincoln Electric Systems and Alliant Energy.
Chuck was a beloved father, treasured grandfather, energetic neighbor and friend. He was quick with a joke and a helping hand. He was known as “Tool time” to neighbors and friends. All who knew him had fun stories to share.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Maria; children, Jeanenne (Manish), and Daniel; grandchildren, Nicholas, Anya, Priya, Kyle, and Shane; siblings, Nancy and Robby. He is preceded in death by his parents.
