An Iowa City man is facing charges in relation to an investigation about gunshots being fired on April 9, according to Iowa City police.
Andre Johnson, 19, is charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent, reckless use of a firearm and use of a dangerous weapon during a crime.
Police responded to a call of shots being fired about 2 a.m. April 9 in the 2400 block of Walden Road. Officers found multiple .40-caliber cartridge cases and evidence that a residence had been hit by gunfire, according to a criminal complaint.
Interviews, surveillance footage and phone messages recovered by police indicated that Johnson was the shooter, the complaint said.
“The defendant went to the 2400 block of Walden Road, armed with a dangerous weapon, with the intent to provoke fear or injure the victim, and fired multiple rounds from this firearm causing property damage,” the complaint states.
The charges related to the shots fired investigation were filed June 13. Johnson already was being held in the Johnson County Jail on a charge of second-degree robbery after he stole a wallet out of someone’s hand April 28, according to a criminal complaint.
Johnson was being held on bail totaling $29,000.
