Frances Hanshaw, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital. A visitation will
be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Teahen Funeral Home. A private graveside service will follow.
Frances is survived by her son, Steve (Tanya) of The Woodlands, Texas; three grandchildren, Noah, Grace and Faith; and dear friends, Jill and Kevin Morgan and their children, Austin and James Morgan, and Elizabeth Boenish.
She was preceded in death by her life partner and companion, Jack Homan, who died in 2017; and sister, Lucille Merritt.
Frances was born Dec. 12, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Florence Sedlacek Balik. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1957. Frances worked as an advertising agent for the Cedar Rapids Gazette for many years before retiring in 2003.
Frances loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed being on Jack's pontoon on Lake Macbride and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Vikings Fan.
