Marcia Kaye (Frimml) Cook, 54, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on June 10, 2024, in Grand Junction, Colorado. A visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Marcia was born to John and Susan (Newton) Frimml on December 15, 1969, in Marengo, Iowa. Marcia attended Benton Community High School, and then earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Marcia enlisted in the National Guard in 1989, she won "Soldier of the Month” and “Soldier of the Year” during her time in the military. Marcia wore many hats in her personal and professional life, but her constant was working as a dental hygienist for Dr. Michaels, most recently at Horton Dental in Cedar Rapids. Marcia will be remembered for her constant outpouring of love, hard work ethic, love of comfy blankets, and beautiful energy she brought into each space she was a part of. Marcia had a heart of gold, shed unwavering kindness, had a smile to light up a room, and an immeasurable amount of love for her family and friends, especially her boys, the greatest loves of her life.
Marcia is survived by her longtime partner, Garland Alff Jr.; children, Andrew Cook (Bailey), Austin Cook, Jacob Alff (Lacey), Jenna Alff, Jessie Owens (Luke); grandchildren, Stephen, Jaxon, Lilly, Drake, Garrison, and Israel; siblings, Steve Frimml (Carla), Stacy DeFauw (Ken), Jean Sullivan (Steve), Joe Frimml, and Mary Frimml; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Susan; and siblings, Hank and Jay Frimml.
