An 11-year-old boy was airlifted last week to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after he fell out of the passenger seat of a moving pickup truck, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office said.
On Wednesday, the boy was riding without a seat belt in a 1994 Chevrolet S10 driven by Sara Raue, of Walker when the passenger side door opened and he fell out. He suffered serious injuries, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
The truck was traveling “at speed” on Quasqueton Diagonal Boulevard, north of Quasqueton. The sheriff’s office responded to the scene at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday.
The incident remains under investigation, the release states.
