Iowa City man arrested after shots fired

An Iowa City man was arrested over the weekend on charges that he assaulted and shot at a pregnant woman while multiple children were present.
Dayvon Keontay Long, 21, assaulted a woman who is pregnant with his child on Saturday by shoving her into a dresser and onto the ground and shooting towards her when she tried to run away, according to a criminal complaint.
Long shot once at the woman with a handgun, but missed and hit a T.V. Three minor children were present at the time, the complaint states.
Police were called to the scene, a residence in the 2700 block of Wayne Ave., at 5:56 p.m. Saturday. Long had fled and returned to his residence at 512 Dubuque Street, where he was arrested. The other residents of the building were evacuated for their safety while police took Long into custody, according to a news release from the Iowa City Police Department.
Long is charged with four counts of child endangerment, and one count each of intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent, domestic abuse assault of a pregnant person, assault with a firearm of a pregnant person, control of a firearm by a felon, reckless use of a firearm, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to inflict serious injury, domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury, and person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons.
He is being held in the Johnson County Jail on a $30,000 bond, and a no contact order has been filed on behalf of the victim.
