Iowa’s delegation needs to remember its oath

I was disheartened when I read the responses of Sens. Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst and Congresswoman Ashley Hinson to Trump's guilty verdicts as a “sham” and that the verdict was “rigged.” They have conveniently forgotten the verdict was rendered by jurors (ordinary citizens) doing their civic duty. They overlooked the fact these same jurors were picked by Trump's attorneys. The verdicts were based on solid evidence presented showing the Trump camp made payments to a porn star, to maintain her silence for sexual encounters Trump had with her to prevent a scandal that could damage Trump's presidential chances.
Our system of justice where prosecutors presenting evidence of wrong doing, defense attorneys defending the rights of the accused and citizen juries ultimately rendering a decision has worked well for nearly 250 years.
What really concerns me is that as elected leaders, Grassley, Ernst and Hinson keep following the Trump line and support his efforts in tearing our system of justice apart from within by demeaning it, calling it corrupt and out to get him. They also continue to support the big lie that he keeps saying that the 2020 election was rigged even though there has never been a shred of evidence to support that lie.
Rather than supporting the destruction our country from within, they need to be patriotic to our constitution and country. They should work to maintain the rule of law. They need to remember the oath they took!
