Jimmy Jay Hurtt, 70, of Robins, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center. A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Jimmy Jay Hurtt was born Sept. 10, 1947, the son of Jesse and Gladys (Thomas) Hurtt. He was united in marriage to Diann Espy Hurtt on Nov. 1, 1968. Jimmy worked for FMC Corp. as a maintenance mechanic and also union president. He opened Dental Equipment & Supply in the 1980s. He enjoyed the challenge and technology of the dental industry and also the personal relationships he built through the years. He enjoyed talking about the good ol' days with his cherished friends. He could fix anything with pride and was an entrepreneur at heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kay Cairns; and sister-in-law, Vicky Espy.
He is survived by his wife and children, Joedy Hurtt of Toddville, Halley (John) Stinchfield of Tallahassee, Fla., and Tammy (Michael) Hurley of Kirksville, Mo.; mother-in-law, Marilyn Espy of Centerville; and his three grandchildren, Jameson and Hannah Stinchfield and Casey Hurley.
