Girl sought by Iowa City police found safe after AMBER Alert

Update: The Iowa City Police Department reports that Ophelia Anne Barton has been found safe.

An AMBER Alert was issued Tuesday evening and Iowa City police are asking the public for help finding a 15-year-old girl.

According to the alert, which went out shortly after 7 p.m., police are looking for 15-year-old Ophelia Anne Barton, who is described as a white female, five feet tall, weighing 80 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.

The alert states that 42-year-old Lindsey Anne White is believed to have abducted Barton in Iowa City, headed for Nichols, Iowa, which is about 22 miles southeast of Iowa City. White is believed to be driving a 2014 blue Jeep Compass Sport. The jeep has an Iowa license plate, number LIU044.
