Gary L. Rowe, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Per Gary's wishes, there will be no services.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; a daughter, Sheila Frickson of North Liberty; two sons, Jeff and Ken, both of Japan; a sister, Pam Brown of Tiffin; two brothers, Glenn of Wellman and Terry of California. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Andrea and Casey Hansohn; six great-grandchildren; and his dog, Rufus.
Gary was born Oct. 15, 1950, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Raymond and LaJean Martin Rowe. He graduated from Mid Prairie High School in 1968. Gary joined the Navy and retired after 20 years of service.
He married Donna on Nov. 11, 1993, in Iowa City. Gary retired from his second career with the Johnson County DHS in 2013.
Gary will forever be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
