Jonathan R. Warnock, 30, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024 in Allen Park, Mich. Visitation will be Saturday June 8, 2024 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen, Ill. Funeral to begin at 11:00 a.m., also at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Van Burensburg, Ill.
Jonathan was born April 23, 1994 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Robert W. and Denise E. (Greenwood) Warnock. He graduated from Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and then Michigan State University in Lansing, Mich. In his youth he was active in Boy Scouts and Venture Crew. In 2008 he achieved his Eagle Scout Award by co-planning, organizing, and building a garage at Nixon Elementary School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with the help of another boy scout and many volunteers. He hiked and camped in the Minnesota Boundary Waters and participated in other High Adventures in Scouts, including Wilderness Survival Training in Wisconsin. Jonathan enjoyed music, playing the trumpet in the high school band and singing in the Kennedy Show Choir Competition in Nashville, Tenn., in 2012. After graduation from MSU he lived in California working as a Senior Investment Research Analyst for several years. He worked closely with the financial executives at California Resources and mentored other employees. He then moved back to Michigan in 2023. Jonathan enjoyed golf, boating, and being with his friends, especially cheering on the Detroit Lions. His beloved dog, Sparty, was his constant companion.
Mr. Warnock is survived by his parents, Robert and Denise Warnock of Coffeen, Ill.; siblings, Daniel (Morgan) Warnock of North Liberty, Iowa. and Lisa Warnock of Muscatine, Iowa; grandmother, Martha Warnock of Marion, Iowa; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Ronald Warnock of Coggon, Iowa, and Murl and Imogene Greenwood of Coffeen, Ill.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Love packages in Butler, Ill., Green Hill Cemetery, or Coffeen Methodist Church.
