Mary K. Heims, 77, of Monticello, Iowa, passed away on Friday morning, May 24, 2024, at the Monticello Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Campus.
Visitation will be held from 9 – 10:45 a.m., on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello, Iowa. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 11:00 a.m. will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate.
Mary was born on October 10, 1946, in Dyersville, Iowa, to Alfred “Fritz” and Evelyn (Pearl Kruse) Kooopmann. She graduated from St. Boniface High School in 1965 and started working at The Ertl Company. Mary married Lloyd Heims on September 19, 1970, at St. Boniface Church in New Vienna, Iowa. Together they farmed around the Hopkinton and Sand Springs, Iowa areas, before moving to Monticello, Iowa. Mary also worked at Polo Custom Plastics in Monticello, Iowa. Mary later moved to Pennington Square Assisted Living, and then to Monticello Nursing Home.
Mary is survived by her two brothers, Anthony (Eldora) Koopmann, and Jim (Doris) Koopmann, both of Dyersville, Iowa; one sister, Joyce (Mark) Westhoff of Petersburg, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Sandy Koopmann of Peosta, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Jerome Heims of Ryan, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lloyd, in 2009, a brother, Donald Koopmann, a brother-in-law, Robert, and two sisters-in-law, Darlene Marugg, and Diane Heims, and a nephew, Russell Marugg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Camp Courageous, or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pennington Square, Above and Beyond Hospice, and Monticello Nursing and Rehab for their compassionate care.
