Joy Eileen Scheer, age 70 of Clarence, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024 after a short stay in Hospice. Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden on Friday, May 31 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Daniel Redhage officiating. Visitation will also be at the church on Thursday from 4-7 P.M. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Joy was born in Washington, Iowa on July 5, 1953 to Walter and Leona (Wagner) Gardner. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith in July of 1953. She was the youngest of 4 siblings, with two sisters and one brother. On December 15, 1988, Joy married Michael Scheer at First Christian Church in Cedar Rapids. After living in Cedar Rapids for several years, the couple moved to Clarence and joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden.
She is survived by her husband Michael; her stepson Aaron; 2 grandchildren; her sister Jan (Jack); sisters-in-law Karla Scheer, Lisa (Jeff) Decker and Emilita Scheer; brothers-in-law Douglas (Beth), David (Jeanne), Steven (Janet) and Christopher (Joan); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Don; sister Beverly; brother-in-law Randy; and nephews Danny and Benjamin.
Joy owned and operated her own cleaning business for many years. She was active in whatever church she attended, teaching Sunday School and helping at church functions. Joy loved the lord and all his creatures, especially cats. She also enjoyed dining out at her favorite restaurant, Ditto’s in Stanwood.
