Donald Lampe, 83, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, in Walford, IA, surrounded by family. Celebration of Life: 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids, IA. A graveside service for Don and Janice will be held at 3:30 p.m. June 1, 2024, at Calvary Cemetery, Ryan, IA.
Don was born May 16, 1940, in Bancroft, IA, the son of Henry and Marie (Wilhelmi) Lampe. He graduated from St. John’s High School. Don was united in marriage to Janice Estling on September 29, 1990, in Cedar Rapids. He worked for Downing Box, FMC, Goss, and College Community Schools. Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his siblings, Kenny (Ann) Lampe, Frances (Sandy) Lampe, all of Cedar Rapids, Daryle (Eileen) Lampe of Hiawatha, IA, and Donna (Maynard) Long of Melbourne, FL; stepchildren, Stephanie Hogan of Cedar Rapids, and Jeff (Brenda) Hogan of Walford; grandchildren, Nick and Brielle Hogan of Estherville, IA, and Casey Hogan of Cedar Rapids, and sons, Chuck and Steve Lampe of Marion, and Patrick Lampe of Cedar Rapids, as well as their families.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; parents, Henry, and Marie; and sisters, Lois, MaryAnn, and Helen.
Special thank-you to Jim, Alicia, Chris, Rev. Todd, and all the staff of UnityPoint home and in-patient Hospice. You have all become friends.
Memorials may be directed to UnityPoint Hospice or the Lending Closet at Grace Episcopal Church in Cedar Rapids.
