Linda J. Matthess, age 76, of Marengo, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, at Colonial Manor, Amana. Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with hospice Chaplin Rick Sparks officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be contributed to the family.
Linda is survived by her husband Maynard P. Matthess; five children, Stacey Ford, of Tipton, Joseph Menicucci, of Palo, Ellen (Jared) Sennett, of Walford, Bryan (Sara) Menicucci, of Victor and Richard Matthess, of Marengo; 15 grandchildren, Denise (Robert) Errthum, of Guttenburg, Rebecca (Matt) Handley, of Melissa, TX, Jesse (Jessica) Ford, of Tipton, Melanie Ford, of Mechanicsville, Bethany Ford, of Tipton, Jonathan Menicucci, of Texas, Nicholas Menicucci, of Colorado, Kaitlyn Sennett, of Marion, Brayden Sennett, of Walford, Addyson Sennett, of Walford, Jordyn Menicucci, of Victor, Kollin Menicucci, of Victor, Bailey Menicucci, of Victor, Reece Matthess, of Marengo and Taya Matthess, of Marengo; eight great-grandkids, Lily and Izabelle Errthum, of Guttenburg, Jaxsen, Sophia and Joshua Ford, of Tipton, McKenna, Emberlynn and Fayette Handley, of Melissa, Texas; and four siblings, Lida Kienle, Allen Camic, Ellen Elder and Stanley Camic, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Rita Fowler, father-in-law, Maynard Matthess, a nephew Frank Fowler and a niece, Lida Boyle.
Linda Jean Camic was born December 31, 1947 in Redbank, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Stanley and Ruth (Smith) Camic-Rodgers. She received her education at Middle Town North High School and graduated with the class of 1966. Linda served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Brag, NC. She met her first husband Thomas Spencer while in the Army and married in 1968. Of this union, they had a daughter, Stacey. The couple later divorced. Linda then married Joseph Menicucci in 1974. The couple had three children of this union, Joseph Menicucci, Ellen Sennett and Bryan Menicucci. After moving to Iowa from New Jersey, the couple divorced. In 1998, she was united in marriage to Maynard P. Matthess and had a son, Richard Matthess. Linda was employed at Victor plastics for 13 years. Her hobbies included ceramics, crocheting and sewing. Linda enjoyed playing cards, going fishing and camping, having BBQ’s watching Westerns and old movies. Linda was very involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She especially loved spending time with all of her family.
