If Hy-Vee won’t support our community, we won’t support Hy-Vee

When I moved to Cedar Rapids to attend Coe 40 years ago, I started shopping at Hy Vee and have stuck by them. Part of that decision was their being Iowa-rooted and employee-owned.
Employee ownership should mean having a conscience and should have stopped them from making a decision like the recent one to close the 1st Avenue store. Creating a food desert within our city just smells of greed. We’ll be ending our Hy-Vee support over this.
