Vincent Risden, 85, of North Liberty, died Friday, July 27, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at First Christian Church, located at 900 Lincolnshire Place, Coralville. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 30, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. A private family inurnment will be at a later date at First Presbyterian Church, near Ely, where military rites will be conducted.
Vincent was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Maquoketa, the son of Gary and Alice (Howard) Liston. Vincent was adopted in September 1943 by Frank Risden, following the death of his father. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was united in marriage to Leota Scott in May 1951, in Salem, Ark. Vince worked at Iowa Manufacturing for many years until his retirement. Later, he worked at National Coating Systems in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, golfing, dancing, and most of all spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids.
Vince is survived by Sharon Sass; his children, Vickie (Steve) Matheny and Khris (Jason) Hayward, both of Cedar Rapids, Alice (Chuck) Puetz of Maquoketa, Mark (Crystal) Risden of Cedar Rapids, adopted son and grandson, Vinnie V. Risden; his 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; his stepchildren, David Gaule of Iowa City, KaLynn (Jason) Kula of Central City, Kathy (Tom) Stratton of Cedar Rapids and Karen Gaule (Matt Swift) of North Liberty; many stepgrandchildren and foster children; his brother, Gerald (Kaye) Risden of Gilbert; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leota; his daughter, Beverly Mastain; an infant son, Kenneth Risden; and his six sisters.
