Patricia Grace Thomas, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Bickford of Marion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Brosh Chapel. Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery.
Patricia was born on June 18, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Tillie (Lillian) Shonka. She graduated from Wilson High School, class of 1952. Patricia was united in marriage to Earl Thomas on August 12, 1953, in Cedar Rapids. She worked at Dairy Maid Ice Cream Store on 6th Street SW, Robinson’s Department Store, Mays Drugstore, Henry’s Hamburgers, Brooks Clothing Store and retired from Alliant Energy. She enjoyed taking care of her many animals, traveling, going to sporting events, and most of all spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Patricia is survived by her children Linda Kisling, Brian Thomas, Cherie Thomas, Craig (Robin) Thomas; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Leonard (Ida) Shonka and Leland (Frannie) Shonka; her son-in-law Dean Kisling, her daughter-in-law Pat Thomas, and a grandson Ron Irvin.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Humane Society.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Bickford of Marion and St. Croix Hospice for their love care and hospitality of Pat.
