Jack D. Minnaert passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at his home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A private family graveside service will take place with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
Jack was born April 28, 1947, in Savanna, Ill., the son of Frank and Ruth (Harrison) Minnaert. After graduating from Dows High School in 1966, Jack enlisted in the United States Navy, fighting in the Vietnam War. He returned to the United States and on March 2, 1968, was united in marriage to Janet Leigh McDowell. Jack owned and operated Tranmer TV and worked for Cargill in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, retiring in 2009. He enjoyed antique radio collecting.
Jack is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet Minnaert of Cedar Rapids; son, Jeff (Amanda) Minnaert of Cedar Rapids; two brothers; three sisters; and his dogs, Punky and Riley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruth Minnaert; and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dogs Forever, 809 Rockford Rd. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
