Matthew Sindelar
Cedar Rapids
The music died for our family, May 3, 2024, the day Matt was unexpectedly gone from our lives. Matt was born June 24, 1961 in Cedar Rapids, IA to Mary Celine (DeMeulenaere)and Joseph Gerald Sindelar. Per Matt’s request, there will be no services at this time.
Matt was a talented, self-taught musician playing in several bands, including EXIT, with his cousin Jeff DeBrower and several good friends. Their music brought family and friends together for many a night of dancing and singing. His love of music was in every aspect of his life whether it be picking on a guitar or playing keyboards with anyone who cared to join him, humming his favorite Beatles tune, or sharing his vast knowledge of music trivia.
After Matt lost the love of his life, Cindy Koftan, his love was devoted to his family and his kitty cats.
His smile, laugh, and constant chatter will be missed at our family gatherings. Matt was a diehard Beatles fan. All you need is love…all we need is another day with Matt.
Matt is lovingly remembered by his siblings; Victoria (Robert) Bauman, Daniel (Vicki) Sindelar, Robert Sindelar, Kris Freewoman, and Kerry (Wael) Ayyad; along with all of his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, Sue and Jim Phelps, and Lois Koftan.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph G. and Mary C. Sindelar, sister Mary Jean and brother Joseph C., his soulmate Cynthia Koftan, his nephew Christopher J. Meier, and his grandparents.
Online condolences may be left for the family at cedarmemorial.com under obituaries.
