Michael Kevin Brogan, 70, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2024, at St. Jude Catholic Church, by Rev. Nick March. Inurnment: Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A Vigil Service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Teahen Funeral Home. Those not attending the Vigil Service may visit with the family from 4:30 to 7 p.m. or after 9 on Friday before the mass.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Mary Beth; 2 daughters, Amanda (Ray Boyd) Brogan of Cedar Rapids and Maggie (Paul) Siebert of Chicago, IL; granddaughters, Ella Rose and Cameron Elizabeth; nephews and nieces, Matt (Jessi), Jamie (Marti), Lori (Brett) and Shawn; brother-in-law Mont Wuttke; and many other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, L. Patrick; and sisters, Judy Wuttke and Mary
Brogan.
Michael was born on May 31, 1953, in Waterloo, the son of L.W. and Thelma Cookinham Brogan. He graduated from Columbus High School, Waterloo in 1971 and attended the
University of Northern Iowa. On October 19, 1974, Mike married the love of his life, Mary Beth
Schadle, in Waterloo. He worked at Erb’s Technology for 40 years, retiring as the co-owner and
CEO. Mike was a faithful member of St. Jude Catholic Church, where he gave his time
volunteering on many church committees.
In his free time, Mike enjoyed golfing, attending, and watching all sporting events at the
University of Iowa. He was an avid New York Yankees and Chicago Bears fan. Following his
triumph over cancer in 2014, he dedicated his time to volunteering with the American Cancer
Society. Mike’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Known for his sociable
nature, Mike effortlessly befriended everyone he encountered, leaving a lasting impression with
his strong, affectionate, and warm presence. Everyone was a welcome guest in his home.
