Alisha Ross ("Roni," "Baby Gurl") 17, of Anamosa, passed away on Aug. 22, 2018, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Children's Hospital of Omaha, following a five-year battle with heart and lung disease.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom. Services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with Pastor Pierre Gibbs presiding. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Alisha was born April 21, 2001, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She grew to love the outdoors, basketball, volleyball, dirt track racing, Hawkeye Downs racing and, most of all, the Pittsburgh Steelers. She always will be remembered for her kindred and fighting spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In the end, she helped others by being a donor.
She is survived by her parents, Preston and Kim Ross of Anamosa; Danny Cannon of Cedar Rapids; brothers and sisters from Texas, North Carolina, Alabama, Colorado, Tennessee and Iowa; her grandparents, Alvin and Deann Boots of Anamosa and Robert and Laree Dains Sr. of Marion; great-grandmother, Karen Dains of Cedar Rapids; 24 nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Shaunett Pettit; her great-grandfathers, a great-grandmother; and a host of relatives and friends.
