Jo Ann (Morgan) Lipkey, 75, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Emery Place in Robins, Iowa. No services are planned at this time. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Jo Ann was born on December 4, 1948, in Kentland, Indiana, the daughter of Fred Sr. and Bertha (Bower) Morgan. Her fondest memories of growing up were spending time with her cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family. She was a graduate of Purdue University, earning her master’s degree. In 1970, Jo Ann was united in marriage to James “Jim” Lipkey, in Lafayette, Indiana. She taught early childhood education for over 20 years, retiring in 2011 and moving to Iowa to be closer to her granddaughters. Jo Ann enjoyed gardening, caring for her house plants, reading, and travel, especially trips to the ocean. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Jo Ann will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jo Ann is survived and lovingly remembered by her two children, Jessica (Nolan) Wrage of Marion, and Jeff Lipkey of Fort Wayne, Indiana; granddaughters, Harriet and Dale; and a brother, Fred Morgan of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jim Lipkey.
Memorials in Jo Ann’s memory may be directed to Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne.
