Michael Ingalls, 70, died Wednesday May 1, 2024, at St. Lukes Hospital Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 until 7 Monday evening May 6, 2024, at Arthur Collins Room in the Best Western Longbranch Hotel, 90 Twixt Town Rd, Cedar Rapids 52402. Funeral services will be held 11:00 Wednesday morning, May 8, 2024, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call after 9:00 AM. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello at a later date. Pastor Holly Knouse will officiate at the services. Thoughts, Memories and Condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com.
Surviving is his wife of 31 years, Cynthia, his mother, Lucille Aupperle, 2 children, Eric, and Nicole, 6 grandchildren, his siblings, Pam (Dave) Evens, Dale (Monica) Frank and nieces and nephews, Matthew (Tracye) Ingalls, their daughter Veronica (Demik), and their son Liam. Mark (Candy) and their son Jacob Ingalls, Niece Kimberly Reyhons, and Sisters-in-law PamaLee Ingalls and Deborah (Tholen) Kuker.
He was preceded by his stepfather Howard Aupperle and a brother, Wayne Ingalls and in laws Duane and Gladys Tholen aka “the cookie lady.”
Michael Eugene Ingalls was born April 23, 1954, at Iowa City, Iowa. He was the son of Arthur William and Lucille Evelyn Rogens, Ingalls. Lucille would later marry Howard Aupperle and he had a major influence on Michael’s life. Michael graduated from Jefferson Highs School and attended Kirkwood College. He was employed by Amana Refrigeration/ Whirlpool for 50 years in the tool and die department, retiring in 2024.
Michael met Cynthia at his sister Pam & Dave’s home. Ending the evening asking can we meet again next weekend? He forgot to ask for Cynthia’s phone number. So, his sister got it for him. They married on June 5, 1993, in Anamosa, Iowa.
Michael’s friends of many years started & gathered in Davenport, Iowa. Bill & Terri Thinnes have remained remarkably close in the past years. Bill & Michael discussing Doc Savage books and many phone calls to each other.
Michael was a kind and generous man. When his mother-in-law Gladys Tholen could no longer live alone, he graciously invited her into his home. He loved his wife Cynda, his dachshunds, Savannah, and Georgia going for walks, Superhero’s, watching movies and visiting with family and friends. He grew to appreciate all the flowers that Cynda planted, even learning some of their names.
Michael is dearly missed by all those that love him dearly. Rest in peace sweet Michael, your pain is gone, and our love will live on into eternity. Cynda...
