Ruth Elizabeth Lindhart was born June 20, 1931, in Williamsburg, IA, the daughter of Irvine and Carrie (Williams) Boland. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1949 and attended Iowa State University for two years. Ruth was united in marriage to Otis Neil Lindhart on March 24, 1951, in Williamsburg. Ruth served as a library secretary at the Williamsburg High School for 20 years and was a lifelong farm wife. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and deacon and was past president of Presbyterian Women. Ruth was also a member of The Eastern Star, where she was past worthy matron and a member of the P.E.O. Ruth had a passion for serving others. Ruth enjoyed spending time with family, baking, quilting, reading, doing puzzles, gardening and watching Wheel of Fortune. Ruth died Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Highland Ridge Assisted Living, at the age of 92 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Dianne (Pat) Burke, of Green Valley, AZ, Karen (John) Miller, of Cedar Falls and Janice (Tom) Schlesselman, of Freeport, IL; son, Donald (Alma) Lindhart, of Keota; 12 grandchildren, Logan (Kelly) Burke, Nolan (Amanda) Burke, Michael (Jessica) Miller, Matthew (Emily) Miller, Laura (Mitch) Scherbring, Ben (Kristen) Schlesselman, Amy Schlesselman, Micah (Hannah) Schlesselman, Rachel (Jackson) Wu-Pong, Michelle Lindhart, Jenna Lindhart and Payne Ritonya; 11 great-grandchildren (and one on the way) and her sister-in-law, Gerry Boland, of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, David Boland.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 am on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A memorial fund has been established for the First Presbyterian Church or the Williamsburg Public Library.
