Mary Ann Levsen, 81, of Olin passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at the Clarence Nursing Home.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Dawson Funeral Services in Olin. Her memorial service will be on Saturday, May 4 at 11:00 am at the Olin Community United Methodist Church. A private burial will be at the Olin Cemetery at a later date.
Mary Ann was born on July 11, 1942 in Anamosa, Iowa to Omar and Mabel (Cruise) Vrooman. She graduated from Olin High School in 1959. On February 14, 1964 she was united in marriage to Donald Levsen in Olin, Iowa.
For 10 years, she worked as an Aide at the Olin School. She also helped her husband at their insurance office for many years. Community involvement was very important to Mary; through the years she was a member of the Jaycee Wives, Westside Club and the Twentieth Century Club. She and Don ran the Snack Shack for many summers at the Friday night softball games at the park to benefit the Olin Betterment organization. Mary enjoyed working with children as hers grew up and was later a Lunch Buddy at the Olin School. She was a member of the Olin Community United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of over 60 years, Donald; her children, Trish (Walt) Laetare of Olin, Brad (Tobi) Levsen of Harrisville, RI, Karen (Rick) Roque of Wesley Chapel, FL and Pia Burebo, her exchange daughter from Sweden; five grandchildren, Colton (Megan) Laetare, Mikayla (Madisson) Miller, Trenton (fiancé Lala), Nicholas and Everett Giddings and three great-grandchildren, Edison and Benjamin Miller and Walker Laetare. Mary also had two loving stepsisters, Mary Ann Chamberlin and Linda Parker.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Edna, brother Ronald and son-in-law John.
Her family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Clarence Nursing Home who provided exceptional care for Mary.
