Police investigate unattended death in Oelwein
The body of a male was reported to police Monday evening

OELWEIN — Local and state officials are investigating the unattended death of male in Oelwein.
The Oelwein police received a report of a possible deceased person at 9:24 p.m. Monday, according to a news release from the police department. The body was located in a wooded area in the 10 block of Third Avenue NW in Oelwein.
The matter is considered an “unattended death investigation,” according to the release. The body was transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy and identification.
The Oelwein Police Department was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette Police Department, Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
