Every step toward better mental health is a win

Recognizing when you’re struggling with your mental health isn't always easy. But it's often the first and most important step toward getting support and feeling better – and each step toward wellness should be celebrated.
Our society often pushes the idea of “perfection.” When it comes to mental health, progress is what counts. Every small step we take toward better mental health is a win. Whether it's opening up to others about our struggles, setting boundaries, practicing self-care, or reaching out to professionals like therapists or a crisis line, these actions matter and should be celebrated.
During Mental Health Awareness Month, we encourage everyone to celebrate these small successes. Recognizing your own progress can be incredibly empowering. It can serve as encouragement to continue on the path of recovery and well-being. This mindset shift from seeking perfection to appreciating progress can make a profound difference in how we perceive and address mental health.
You don’t have to make progress on your own. Help is available. Foundation 2 Crisis Services and the Linn County Mental Health Access Center are two community resources that provide 24/7 mental health support. We can help you navigate a crisis, learn about available resources, or support a loved one. All services are free and confidential.
By striving to know ourselves better and being diligent about our mental health, we improve our own lives and set a powerful example for those around us. Together, through awareness and action, we can build a community that uplifts and supports each of us in every step of our mental health journey.
