Recognition of women’s WWII efforts welcome, but past due

During World War II women took on jobs that were held by men that went off to war. This group of women were known collectively as Rosie the Riveter. They built tanks, ships, planes, munitions and worked in many other areas that helped the war effort.
On April 10 a group of Rosies received the Congressional Gold Medal in Washington, D.C. Unfortunately many Rosies have passed away not knowing that their country recognized their effort during the war.
It took almost 80 years for Congress to pass the Rosie the Riveter Congressional Gold Medal Act, which was signed into law December 2020.
I have just one question for Congress: What took you so long?
