Carol Hustad, 79, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Visitation: 4-8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service:
10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Christ Community United Methodist Church, Marion. Burial will follow at Troy Mills Cemetery with a luncheon following at the church.
Carol was born May 17, 1944, in Walker, Iowa, daughter to Roy and Verna (Webster) Tull. While in high school, Carol was a member of the band and marching band. She went on to graduate from Jefferson High School in 1962. After high school, Carol married Paul Hanson and later divorced. She married John “Jerry” Crane and he later passed. Carol remarried Robert “Bob” Hustad on August 17, 1996.
Those who knew Carol would describe her as a “Busy Bee”. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Marion. She was also a member of the ABWA, NAWIC, Eagles Club, Moose Club, and Home Builders Association. Carol was also the owner of A-1 Siding, Windows, & More for 37 years. In 2004, Carol traveled to the White House to receive the Women Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Carol loved to camp and travel with her husband, Bob. She was a member of many camping organizations; Busy Bee Winnebago Camping Group, FMCA Camping Group, Midwest Trail Roaders, and Badgers. She also was an avid bowler, played the organ, and loved the Iowa Hawkeyes.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Hustad; daughter, Paula (Ray) Simmons; adopted daughter, Debra (Terry) Spies; grandchildren, Joe (Beverly) Simmons and Becky Simmons; great-grandchildren, Allen Simmons and Serena Simmons; sister, Linda Tull; sisters-in-law, Ardis (Lee) Strack and Bev (Jeff) Webber; step-children, Alan (Carla) Hustad, Sara (Todd) Barnett, and Dana (David) Samic; step-grandchildren, Mike Weaver, Cari (Zach) Reichert, Anthony Baad, Chelsea Barnett, Hunter Martinak, and Ana Martinak; and step-great-grandchildren, Deacon Weaver, Brooklyn Weaver, and Jonathan Reichert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and late husband; John “Jerry” Crane.
