IOWA CITY — Brian Ferentz has a new home in the Big Ten.
Maryland football is expected to hire the former Iowa offensive coordinator as an analyst, a source confirmed to The Gazette.
Brian Ferentz, the oldest son of Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, will join Mike Locksley’s staff at Maryland after a tumultuous seven years as Iowa’s offensive coordinator. His offenses ranked dead-last nationally in yards per game in 2022 and 2023 and were 120th or worse nationally in several other key statistics.
Beth Goetz, Iowa’s interim athletics director at the time, announced Brian Ferentz’s firing on Oct. 30 although he was allowed to finish the season before departing.
Ferentz will not have to wait long for a reunion with his father and former team, as Iowa will play at Maryland on Nov. 23.
