Chuck Gunderson passed away on April 20, 2024. A celebration of life will be announced at a future time.
Chuck was born on September 20, 1937 in Grand Rapids, MI. He is survived by his wife Gisela of Cedar Rapids, IA, daughters Linda Cooper, husband Lee Schab of Lowell, MI, Sherry Gunderson-Schipper, husband Andy and granddaughter Catherine of Rockford, MI, son Chuck Gunderson Jr., wife Darla and stepchildren Sean Thomas and Tarah Guyer of Cedar Rapids, IA, stepchildren Marcus Knodle of Arvada, CO, Pamela Razor and grandson Jackson of Cedar Rapids, IA, brothers Carl Gunderson of Zeeland, MI and Ken Gunderson of Lake Odessa, MI.
Chuck received his BS degree from La Salle University. He enlisted in the Air Force, serving four years active duty and six years in the Air Force Reserves. He was employed by Lear Siegler Aero Space Division for seventeen years. He then worked for E Systems in Florida and eventually became General Manager of Smiths Industries Aero Space Division in Clearwater, FL. Upon leaving Aerospace Chuck and Gigi purchased Mermaid Marine Air which they worked together for several years.
There is very little Chuck could not do. He repaired the family cars, fixed fences, drove his children to horse shows and danced a mean Jitter Bug, to mention just a few things. He loved to fish and hunt, and seldom turned down a glass of Budweiser. He may be gone, but the memories are wonderful.
