Joe Rosenberger, 88, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 29, 2024, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection with visitation one hour prior. The inurnment will be at a later date at Martin Creek Cemetery. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Joe was born on June 8, 1935, in Calhoun County, Iowa, the son of Clarence Ellsworth and Anna Laura (Meusburger) Rosenberger. He graduated from Lytton High School and went on to attend the University of Iowa. Joe and his mother spent most of his growing-up years in Lytton in his grandparents’ home; his extended family was very important to him; he enjoyed spending time with his uncles on the farm. On June 30, 1956, Joe was united in marriage to Margaret Anne Rohlfing in Lytton, Iowa. Joe served honorably in the United States Air Force until 1958. Joe and Anne moved to Marion in 1960. He worked as an Electrical Engineer at Rockwell Collins until his retirement. Joe was a longtime active member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
His happiest memories were those when he was surrounded by his family. As well as walking in the outdoors, surveying the crops, cutting wood, mowing and just enjoying country living. Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joe is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Anne Rosenberger of Marion; children, Joan (David) Meyer of Cedar Rapids, Susan (Joseph) Cunningham of Cedar Rapids, and Daniel (Sandy) Rosenberger of Marion; grandchildren, William (Rebecca) Meyer, Eric (Amy) Meyer, Katie Rosenberger, Sarah Rosenberger, Bradley (Elisha) Cunningham, and James Cunningham; and great-grandchildren, Mia Meyer, and Maddox Cunningham.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joe’s memory may be directed to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection or the Eastern Iowa Honor Flights.
