Three dumb categories of legislative action in 2024

Speed cameras have a place in local communities and should not be under the control of the state. One more situation where local control is out the window. Cities aren’t going to charge people guilty of something they didn’t do. It’s the dumb people who run red lights and drive too fast that are gonna pay the fine. If the cities make too much money, then there are too many dumb people driving too fast and going through stop signs. And cameras saves lives, if that matters.
Having guns in the school is the last thing they need. Handling a gun equates trying to learning two foreign languages. The police and others go through extensive training and retraining. This Legislature has given education too many other assignments already. These all fall into the dumb category. You can’t put teachers in jeopardy any more than the students.
Lastly, the AEA bill signed by the governor has problems. And then she said she was “absolutely not” open to changes to the bill’s language sought by some House Republicans after it was signed. That’s not a responsible statement for anyone especially the governor. Period.
